TMS is a non-invasive method of brain stimulation that uses magnetic technology taregeted towards the area of the brain involved in mood regulation.
rTMS is FDA-approved for the treatment of depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder. TMS has been demonstrated to be safe, well tolerated, and more effective than medications. It does not involve surgery. During treatment, patients remain awake and alert. Patients can resume their normal activities immediately after treatment.
Treatments are typically five days per week on weekdays and last about 15 minutes. A course of TMS treatments is usually between 6-9 weeks, depending on the individual’s condition and response.
On October 25, 2019, TMS Treatment was featured on CBS This Morning as a part of their special, "Stop the Stigma: A Conversation About Mental Health." Reporter Jamie Yuccas takes a look at how this alternative treatment is changing lives. Click below to play the video or open in YouTube.
“The TMS treatments have really helped ease the depression”
After 36 sessions of TMS I can defiantly tell there has been a change in number of incidents of severe depression I'm experiencing every month and their severity. I'm a military veteran suffering from PTSD and I also have debilitating chronic tinnitus. Between the PTSD and anxiety/ depression caused by the tinnitus my mental health was being dragged through the mud. The TMS treatments have really helped ease the depression and the stress it was causing in my life. I was also able to back off the medications that were causing their own problems and side effects. I'm grateful to the TCBH Team and all they've done for me, outstanding service every visit.

“TMS Can Change Your Life!”
I am 65 years old, and have suffered with depression my whole life, including several major depressive episodes, which resulted in voluntarily admitting myself to the hospital for inpatient psychiatric care. Because I was medication resistant, I finally decided to try ECT during my last hospitalization. Unfortunately, it only had a mild positive effect, so my depression was still severe. I was referred by Trident Hospital's outpatient hospitalization program to Tricounty Behavioral Health for a consult regarding TMS therapy. Everyone in this office has been so helpful, compassionate and understanding...from the front office staff, to Dr. Mari Asper and Mr. Pascal Bouquillard, the office manager, who also administers the TMS treatments. After talking with Mr. Bouquillard about TMS therapy, my initial anxiety was greatly relieved. He explained everything in detail and thoroughly answered all my questions. I decided to pursue TMS...I felt if I could undergo ECT, I could definitely try TMS! I have just finished all my treatments, and I can't even begin to express how much better I feel. I am so very thankful that I was given this opportunity. Mr. Bouquillard is very empathetic, knowledgeable and understanding regarding his patients ' needs, and his enthusiasm gives one hope. I had no pain or side effects from the treatments. I highly recommend anyone considering TMS to give it a try. My life is so much better now, and I will be eternally grateful for the quality of care I have received from everyone at Tricounty Behavioral Health!
I had a great experience at tricounty behavioral health. After years of poor results with medication that either didn't help or had too many side effects, alongside worsening depression and anxiety, I didn't have a lot of options. TMS was incredibly effective and helped me get to the point where I felt like a person again. I went through a referral from the VA and it is one of the best things I've ever done for myself . The staff here cares and works hard to make sure every session is effectively targeting depression. I cannot recommend more to anyone.
